Former junior Climate Change Minister Amber Rudd has been promoted to Energy Secretary following the Conservative’s General Election victory, writes Click Green.
Prime Minister David Cameron confirmed the news of his appointment on his official twitter account. Ms Rudd replaces Lib Dem MP Ed Davey, who had been in the coalition government with Mr Cameron since 2010.
The position was seen as a key appointment in Prime Minister David Cameron’s new majority Government.
Green industry leaders were swift to praise the announcement, with several believing the position demonstrates Number 10 has kept its promise to promote policies based on climate science.
