Europe-wide performance certification launched

A pan-European lighting performance mark has been launched to certify traditional and LED luminaires, reports lighting.co.uk.

Enec+ has been set up to provide the market with a Europe-wide performance certification for fixtures. The mark is a joint collaboration between the European Electrical Products Certification Association (EEPCA) and LightingEurope, and covers both LED and traditional luminaires. The founders hope it will act as a singular alternative to multiple national marks.

This full-certification scheme is based on an evolution model to allow room for technological and legislative advancements. The scheme will cover the performance of LEDs over their stated lifetime, according to market demand and technology progress, and will possibly include other aspects such as eco-design and over-time performance.
