Lighting maintenance company matches employee’s charity fund-raising.
Lee Mitchell, part of the team at energy-saving lighting firm Greenlite Lighting Solutions, is raising money for a children’s cancer charity by running the 2013 London Marathon – and Greenlite plans to match the donations given by its staff members.
Lee is aiming to raise £2,000 for Children With Cancer UK. He has been training hard for the London Marathon, which will be held on 21 April 2013, by following a strict training schedule that includes circuit training, sprinting and gruelling long runs.
Lee’s colleagues at commercial lighting company Greenlite, where he works on the Maintenance Help Desk, have all agreed to sponsor his fund-raising efforts. What’s more, the company directors are so impressed with Lee’s dedication that they have pledged to match the donations given by staff.
Bob Hall, Managing Director of Greenlite, comments: “We expect to be donating a total of £800 to Lee’s charity. Our employees have already put their hands in their pockets to support Children With Cancer UK, so it’s only right that we as a company should match their efforts.”
Lee Mitchell comments: “You cannot describe in words the atmosphere in London on Marathon day. All the locals are out cheering you. I ran the Marathon in 2012, with a time of 4:32. This year, I’m hoping to beat that time – and raise a lot of money for charity in the process. Thanks to Greenlite, my goal of raising £2,000 looks that much more achievable.”
