Links between lighting and health cannot be ignored

The lighting industry must increase awareness about the links between lighting and health, says SLL’s new president John Aston, writes lighting.co.uk.

“There is a clear need to improve the level of lighting knowledge held by the public,” Aston said, speaking at his inaugural address as SLL president at the 2014 AGM. “Both in basic terms of quality and quantity, as well as addressing any potential health risks that new lighting technology might bring.”

The SLL has been awarded funding from the CIBSE Research Fund for research into human responses to lighting based on LEDs.
